Factory Stereo Problem
Factory Stereo Problem
I have a 1999 F-150 extended cab with factory AM/FM stereo/CD player. Recently, my digital display will blank out from time to time, sometimes for minutes, sometimes hours, sometimes a day or two. The stereo plays just fine and all the functions work even during these periods. The problem is that the clock and the digital display goes blank. You can't tell what track is playing on the CD or what station you are on. I called my local Ford dealership and they said that there is nothing that can be repaired on it to fix it, except to purchase a new stereo from Ford at a cost of over $700! This doesn't seem right. I would think that there is just a crystal or something that could be replaced. Any help would be appreciated.
