XM Question

I apologize if this has been covered before but I haven't been to this section in a while and this is new to me.

I am looking to get xm in my 04 FX4 Screw and was looking at upgrading my hu to:

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-x0PjIW6...p?I=500CDA9831

So I would need the following:

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-x0PjIW6...p?I=209XMDALP1
and
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-x0PjIW6...p?I=209XMD1000

My question is how do the three connect to each other? The xm signal comes in the antenna on the XMD1000. Does it then go to the XMDALP? I see audio outputs on the tuner but only one set of rca jacks on the adapter. How does the audio get to the hu?

Thank you in advance

I'm not sure, but I don't think you need the third universal tuner. go to www.xmfan.com and check out their forums.

Alpine changed their equipment. My Alpine XM receiver uses the Ai-net connections (used for the CD changer) to connect to my Alpine head unit. Now it looks like you have to have two separate devices??? Or is there another one that is used with an XM-ready head unit?? You might want to look for that.

I agree. I am not really sure why two additional devices are needed. Crutchfield told me I need all three components for the Alpine/XM setup. They did say I needed to connect the Ai net connection (used for the changer), like you did. Is the path, TUNER>ADAPTER>HU? I am confused with the audio as well.

Apparently, there is only one hu on the market which does not require a tuner/adapter at all but it does not play MP3's.

I need to call crutchfield back, I am confused.
