HELP! Radio Problems

I was just wandering if anyone has or had this problem with their radio. I have a Kenwood KDC-X859 radio in my truck that was installed about 2 years ago. I will be bringing it back to the place that installed the radio but they are located about an hour away and I have yet had the time to go. The problem is that the sound will stop but the radio display shows that it is still playing. There is a popping sound from the base speaker before the sound goes out. The popping sounds like a bass beat coming from the bass speaker. When the sound stops, I turn the radio off for a couple of seconds then turn it back on. Everything works find until the sound goes off again. Sometimes the sound goes off right away and sometimes it plays for several minutes before going off.
Any suggestion before I get a chance to go to the place for a check up?

Thanks,
Blake

Check to make sure your power and ground on your amps is in good shape. Next check to make sure your speaker wires are not shorted out. It sounds almost as if the amp itself is shutting down or going into protection. To be on the safe side don't operate the stereo system until the trouble is isolated and corrected or you could cause damage to some of your components.

^ Good advice. If it's popping - you're probably dealing with an electrical short somewhere.
