1993 Explorer CD Player

I know this is very OT for our late model F-Series board but, I've got a buddy that's looking to replace his single disc, in-dash, CD Player. Specifically, he wants another stock one. It can be used.

Any idea where a guy can put his hands on one? Ebay has been only half-way productive. I guess we're looking for someone that deals specifically in late model parts like this... any ideas?

Thanks momalle...

Unfortunately, I've tried that and it yeilds THOUSANDS of hits. In short, I'm looking for a silver bullet here; a company that someone has utilized for a similar problem and can recommend them to me.

So far, ebay, the junkyards, and local stereo shops have been USELESS...

Any additional ideas are certainly welcomed!

RP, is ebay only half productive because of price or merchandise? We have a radio shop that does all the Ford dealers work in SD and they have radios sitting around everywhere. I think they are expensive though. Let me know if you need more info.

Hey guys... thanks a bunch! I'll pass some of these options on to my buddy to see if he wants to pursue them...

Long story short, ebay seemed high to him apparently. But, from past experience, ebay typically has a pretty fair bottom line when it comes to the sale. It's just the way this guy is...(even though he has a 2000 Boxster and 99 Cobra)

RP,

If he thinks that the prices ebay sellers are getting on the stock HU's is too much then he just needs to hang it up or go aftermarket. The repair alone on his current unit would more than likely be in the $100-175 range. He can however find a really cheap aftermarket CD player for probably in the area of $50-75 then with kit and everything else he would be about $100-125 (about the same as a stock unit from ebay). In short your friend is not being realistic. Tell him to quit being cheap and get something he will enjoy for years of service or he will wind up spending more in the long run or just flat out not being satisfied with what he gets.
