Question Running a Power Wire

I am about to put in a system into my truck (2001 Screw 4x4) and I am wondering where are some good places to run my power wire through the fire wall???

Look to the left of the brake booster under the hood and you will see a black plug on the firewall. Your throttle cable will run through this plug also(If I remember right). Just carefully cut a small X in it (its pretty large) and push your power wire through. It will come out just at the top edge of your carpet behind the brake pedal. For extra sealing put a little dab of silicone around the wire in engine compartment where it goes through. For a even cleaner look run it through some wire loom and run it along the harness on the top edge of firewall from the battery sode to the passenger side.
I have my stereo HU wire, AMP wire and alarm wires all running through here with no problems or leaks. There may be others but this is the easiest way for me to run mine.

Cool

On my 2001 'Screw, (non 4WD) there was a grommet near the steering column that did not have anything running through it. That is one option.

The other option I am aware of is a grommet, under the passenger side sill plate, near the hinge side of the door. You can run a power cable through the hood hinge area, down the fender well and under the truck through this grommet into the passenger cabin.

Use wire loom and tie wraps and it will work like a champ.

I stand corrected...B-Man is right. It is a un-used plug and the throttle cable comes out a little higher and to the left of it on the firewall. I started thinking of it after B-Man made his reply and I went out and checked.
The other area B-Man mentioned under the passenger sill plate is another great area to come in or out of the cab. I have my ARE covers electric lock and another set of wires running to my bed through that one.

Thanks B-Man for making me look at it again.

I ran my 4 Ga wire from the +positive terminal of the battery down the engine bay side of the front right fender well to the main frame channel, along the bottom of the pick-up to an unused grommet (bottomside) that brings the power line directly into the rear storage compartment by the tire jack. You'll have to punch through the inside fabric to fish it up. Looks reall nice and brings the power directly to where it needs to be. I protected my line by installing it in 1/2" wire loom and then wrapping the whole thing up with loads of electrical tape. I used some convienitently placed tie-wraps to secure the loom to the frame member. I've had it like that for about 3 months without any problems. Don't forget to install a fuse as close to the battery as possible!!

I will take pictures if you need me to. Just ask.
