Aftermarket HU Install

K, I was puttin in my new Pioneer, and it doesnt fit right.

There is a plastic part in the dash(where the radio goes) that slants down, and since the new radio mounts high up, it hits this plastic, and then has to angle down. I barely got it in there, it fits darn tight. I tried turning the install kit upside down, so the pocket would be on teh top, and i could also use the hole in the back that the screw w/ rubber boot goes in for the back support, but when i did that there was a pretty good gap in one place, and it looked bad.

So, do you think I should saw that plastic piece out of there and then make a new rear suppord brackedt athat is higher up, or is it ok the way it is. Im afraid when the player gets hot its gonna melt the plastic thing, id doesnt have any rear suport either, since the hole for the stock one is to far down.

What did wome of you guys do about thes problem? Thanks
Its a 99

I just put a new pioneer hu in my 99 F150, the install kit went in with the pocket up, I had to remove the bezel with the A/C vents and finagled the harness to get the HU in all the way.

the install went well. I don't have any gaps and i didn't need the rear support.

Yeah, I finally just put it in upside down (pocket on the top). There was a pretty big gap, but I just put some plywood back there that I spraypainted to match. The factory rear support works this way too.

Thanks
