Please suggest!!

So I don't get any flack, I posted this in the Super Crew section thinging Super Crew owner would have first hand experience with my exact factory stereo. Sorry for posting in two forums, but I figuered the true stereo buffs would be here. I look forward to your suggestions.

I don't want to go crazy (money wise) on a entire new sound system, but I'm looking for a little better quality sound. I debated whether to post this is Crew Cab or Speakers, but I was wondering what speakers actually fits in the Super Crew? I have a 2002 F-150, XLT, SuperCrew, 4x4. It has the casette player with the 6 disc changer in the middle console. I'm not sure if it's 4 or 6 speakers? The problem I have is the music is very easily distorted. I don't BLAST my music, but when a good song comes on I like to crank it up some. Nothing worse then only being able to play a good CD at 1/4 volume. Will this improve by simply replacing the speakers with some quality ones or do I need to replace the stock stereo? All I'm looking for is better sound quality. I'm a little leary because a couple years back, I took my 2000 Maxum 21ft Open Bow boat in for a simple stereo upgrade. Well, about $3200.00 later I was able to ROCK the lake!! I don't have a clue about stereo's, but I am a smart shopper and will get killer deals. If I have a budget of $350.00, what would you suggest? Please know the $350.00 must include installation. I might add a small sub down the road. Maybe something like the page below? If I did the sub, it would be down the road and is not included in the $350.00 budget. Any and all help is appreciated.

There are other questions to be asked before a good answer can be given.

Are you wanting to retain the factory changer?

Have you considered selling the factory HU and changer on ebay? (they usually bring around $125-250 which you could add to your budget)

For now I will assume you will sell the HU and changer and get $125 for them. This brings your budget to $475. Find a used CD player (or new for around $125-150) I have an Alpine CDM-7871 45x4 HU power with front rear and sub 4 volt RCA outputs which would allow an amp add on later it is in excellent shape that I would sell for $125 + shipping if your interested. Next find 4 6x8 (5x7) coaxial speakers of decent quality such as Alpine, Pioneer, Infinity, Rockford Fosgate, MB Quart, etc. Cost around $200 for the pair. This will bring your cost to around $325 for components then you will need about $25 in parts and about $100-150 for installation. This would give you a good start with future expandability in the future for a sub and amp to drive all your speakers.
