help with OEM 6disk

I own a 2002 F150 Supercab which had a cassette stereo (YW7F-19B132-AA) in it. I purchased the OEM 6 disk deck (1C3F-18C815-AB) on Ebay. I went to put it in, but it wouldn’t seem to slide all the way into place, due to the extra/full height in the back of the unit. There is a large bracket keeping it from sliding into place. As best I can tell the 6 disk unit is made for my truck. Does any one have any suggestions or info related to this installation??

Thanks in advance for the help.

must modify....

The easiest way for me to explain this to you would be to cut the plastic bracket out with a dremel as it is not needed. There are threads in "Other Audio" in regards to exact procedures.

Yea that spretty much it, cut out part of the 'guts' of the dash. Basically look at whats blocking it then cut it. Same goes for anyone trying to install two singel din decks or any other double din decks.

I have an '02 Lariat Scab. For what it's worth, the head unit didn't fit without modifications because for 2002, the 6 disk changer was a separate unit mounted under the back seat on the driver's side like mine is. The head unit also is able to accept cassettes. Standard Ford options for 2002.

If your interested, there are some pics in my gallery of the massaging I did in the dash of my '01 SCrew to make the CD-6 radio fit. Not a big deal really, and I love havein' 6 discs in the dash.

Oops, scratch that! I never posted those pics to my gallery. If you're interested in them, email me.
