XM question???
Can XM be installed yourself if you know your way around car audio? or does it need to be hooked up professionally because your dealing with satellite??? Thanks
Very easy to install the XM stuff. Being satellite based does not affect the difficulty.
Here's a thread on hiding the antenna:XM Antenna Install
Here's a picture of where I mounted my Alpine XM receiver:
In the case of the Alpine, the install consists of:
1. Install the XM antenna
2. Install the XM receiver
3. Connect the cable between the XM receiver and your head unit
4. Connect the XM receiver to +12V and ground
There are several good grounds right behind the passenger side kick panel. You can get +12V right behind the head unit when you pull it out to connect the XM receiver cable.
All in all, a very easy install project...
If you need help or more info, post here.

it can be done yourself
if you can put in a head unit you can do it yourself
I have an alpine xm unit and alpine head unit.
The xm unit inclused a cable to go from the unit to the head unit. just snaps in. all you need to do is feed the cable.
Then you have a power wire and a ground wire
Then you have the 2 wires from the antenna that just plug in
Thats it. very easy.
I's one of my fav mods.

Thanks guys... I already have a XM ready unit(Pioneer AVH-P6400CD). Does this mean I dont need a satellite tuner? So what else would I need? Also, mind me asking how much the monthly charge is?

all u need is a pioneer xm tuner and antenna, the
tuner connects to the head unit through a ip bus cable
it just plugs into the tuner and the back of your headunit.
all u have to wire is a constant power an ground.
mount the antenna on the roof and run the wires through
the 3rd brake light

btw- service is 9.99 a month or 119. a year
