Retaining Steering Wheel Controls

Has anyone sucessfully replaced their head unit with an aftermarket while retaining their steering wheel controls? I found the following item on Crutchfield, however their support did not know if it would work with the 2004 F150. Any help would be appreciated.

The unit you are looking at ONLY works with head units that have remote controls since this unit acts as a second infra-red remote control. To make it work properly the little infra-red light bulb MUST be mounted in-line with remote receiver on head unit.

Cool

If you are wanting to use your existing steering wheel controls with an aftermarket head unit, check these guys out:Logjam Electronics

I have a friend who used one of their adapters in his Explorer with an Alpine head unit and it works awesome. Pretty good pricing too...
