Checkout Ikesound.com and do a little comparing. Before you go blowing that much at crutchfied.com
Heck for that much you could get an elemental design sub or maybe a JL W3 v2 off ebay.

Cool

poolvibe -

I like your selection of electronics. I'm partial to Alpine, so that's just me.

All of the adapter and harnesses and such from Crutchfield will definitely make your install easier.

However, I will offer you a little advice regarding the speakers:

I would spend more on a 6 1/2" component set for the front doors and leave the rear speakers out for the time being, unless the $$$'s are not a factor in your selections.

5 1/4" components can sound good, but I would be willing to bet you would be happier with a set of 6 1/2" components.

I personally like how Polk's sound, but I like my MB Quart components better. If you shop around, you can get a good pair of MB Quart components for less than you were going to spend on the 2 pairs of Polks you are considering.

Later, if you feel the need, you can get a set for the rear, but I'm betting you won't need them.

Are you going to get a under seat sub box, or are you going to make one for behind the seat?

I'll post my sig so you can see what I did for audio in my 'Screw, which is the same year as yours.

Don't forget about sound deadening material for your doors while you have them apart. Here's a link to what I used. WAY cheaper than Dynamat.

Good luck and post what you are doing...

Wow. You are the 1st person I've heard say they don't like the MB Quarts, especially in that price range. Others have said they like other speakers better, but I don't recall anyone saying they did not like them. Goes to show you, we all hear things differently.

Good for you, the Polks will save you some serious bucks !!

Funny, I always thought the Polk "dB" series of speakers sounded very comparable to the mid-range MB Quarts.

Oh well, buy what you like !! That is the name of the game.

I'd really be interested in hearing your thoughts on that box. Please try to remember to post your opinion, once you get some listening time.

Thanks !!

If you order from crutchfield and are a new customer, you can use my referral code and save an extra $20. It is not a lot, but every little bit helps.

pzx8z-r0q3h-varik

I think that you just enter that in at checkout and you get $20 off of your total order, and I get a $20 referral bonus.

That all sounds really good.
