Pioneer 12 cd changer installation questions.

Hey,

I've got a 2003 Supercrew with the cd/cassette radio. I want to add a 12 disc Pioneer changer. Probably put the changer under the front passenger seat. How would I get started with this installation? I assume I need a special tool to pull the factory radio out. What is the best way to route the cable without tearing up the dash.

All help would be appreciated.

Randy

Hmm pioneer 12 disk cd changer will not hook into your factory radio. You gotta have a pioneer radio to hook up a pioneer cd changer. You might be able to hook a ford cd changer to that radio. Also the tool is sold at wal mart for 5.00 and it is made by Scoshe. Hope this helps you out.

I agree with Invalid_access; I don't think it will work with the factory deck. Is it an FM-Modulated changer? If so you're in business. I saved the $5 and just use small screwdrivers to remove the deck. All you have to do is insert them into the holes on either side of the radio and press them toward the outside. This will release the clip that holds the radio in. Do one side, than the other and it should slide right out. To route the cable, just drop it through the dash with the radio out. If you can, point it toward the pedals so it'd easy to find. Then tie-strap it out of the way and run it to where the changer will be.

Hope this helps,

Well, this is a changer that plugs into the antenna socket on the back of the radio, I think. It is about 3 years old. Am I out of luck?

Thanks for the help.

It is the FM Modulated kind. You are in business, just route the cables like 1995xcr600 said and it will work fine.

Ok, good, I think I'm coming around on this. Where is the best place to connect the hotwire from the changer?

Thanks again,
Randy
