thoughts on the Sony XM70 CD/MP3 player

Ive been leaning towards an Alpine 9813 and looked at a Sony XM70 today...it looked nice but Im a total newbie when it comes to these sort of things.

how do those two stack up?

Also, how bout the Sony subwoofers? Are they worth anything?

Sony subwoofer....ummmmm NO!!!!

P.S. any speakers you buy at Best Buy or Circuit City.. will be outperformed by another lesser known manufacturer and can be purchased for the same price as the overpriced Best Buy and Circuit City stuff. At least that's what I've found in my experience.

There's not a single thing in my truck that can be bought at Best Buy or Circuit City... and, honestly, I take pride in that.

And to comment on your 2 head unit choices.. I'd got with the Alpine based on looking at the different features.
Though, personally, I think both of them are ugly.. but that's just me... so you've got a non-biased opinion from me.

well I definitely want XM over Sirius so thats why Im planning on the Alpine. I dont know much about the Pioneers but I know Kenwoods are set up for Sirius so that kinda took those out of the picture for me.

I have the Alpine 9813 head unit and I really like it. I didn't really want a lot of screensavers and graphics flying across the face. I already had the Delphi XM unit or I would have purchased an Alpine XM tuner. I have had a couple of other Alpine units in the past and had really good luck with them. Tons of features ... some rather complicated ...

Hope this helps!

Sony car audio products are junk! I don't care for Alpine HU's, but I would buy their products over Sony all day long. The Pioneer has my vote, but everyone is different, that is why there is more than one company selling HU's.
