XM Radio - Which Curcuit?
XM Radio - Which Curcuit?
Truck = 2002 F-150 SuperCrew XLT.
I jumped in and installed a Delphi XM satellite radio system last weekend and am loving it. At first, I tapped into the radio circuit so the unit would turn on and off with the ignition. Now I read that that's not the preferred way to shut the head off - they want you to use the 'power' button so it shuts down properly. OK, so I tap into another circuit that's live regardless of the ignition status (the mirror adjustment circut). Now I shut the truck off and the radio stays on, just like I wanted. Only thing is, when I start the truck up, this circuit is interrupted while the engine cranks over, shutting the XM off.
Cut to the chase, you say? OK: Does anyone know of a circuit accessable via the interior fues panel that's live 24/7, and that doesn't get interrupted when the engine cranks?
Thanks much!

Yup, the aux power port stays hot when cranking. Without ripping the whole dash apart, is there a way to tap into the back of the socket, or somewhere in the wire? Per the manual, that power comes from the fuse block in the engine compartment. It'd be the best way to come off of the back of the plug like you say, but how do you get access?
