Overwriting The Emergency Brake Problem

The new Pioneer motorized screens have one safe guard. You can't play DVDs without the emergency brake on. I really dont want to watch dvd's for my sake (it would strain my neck to watch in that position for that long anyway), but I don't want to buy another screen just so the passengers can watch. Truck is small, once screen is enough. Anyone know how to overwrite this?

I don't know how they hook it up to the e-brake but I'm sure its probably just checking for a ground. If it only operates when the e-brake line is grounded, just ground it manually. I wouldn't expect it to work otherwise, but don't know for sure.

I have the apline CVA-1005 in my truck and it requires a sequence with the parking break to turn on the screen to watch a dvd. Depending on what kind of sequence is need, you could try to find out if you can rewire the parking break wire to fool the brain into thinking that it is always engaged, but that is if you only need to engage it once, on mine, it's three times and hold.(which sucks so I can't just rewire the brake wire) If it is a sequence like mine, you can contact a guy on ebay who can make a black box to trick the brain into thinking its always engaged so that you don't have to worry about it any more. Look for a guy named specialty2002. He can make a box for you if you can't find a cheaper way to do it.

Keep in mind that, in about 40 states, a screen in view of the driver that is displaying non-informational date (i.e. movies, tv, etc.) is illegal. Its a hefty ticket in some places.

Just put a pushbutton under your dash that grounds the wire each time you push it. Then hit that 3 times.

Definitely illegal to have a video player in view of the driver, on, while driving.

Frankly I don't want one myself, it would be neat to have a GPS/navigator though!

Thanks guys. Like I said. The video isn't for me. But I can't convince myself to buy ANOTHER lcd just so my passengers can watch when I have a perfectly good one already here. I know it's illegal, but I'm not gonna worry about it because...#1, I'm in college, and i spend 3/4 of my time driving in a 2 mile sq. area. (no time to watch a DVD)...And #2...it's hard to see in my truck anyways!
