Question Speed Compensated Volume ?

I have been fiddling with the in dash 6-Cd AM/FM in my new 2003 Lariat SCrew, trying to find the speed compensated volume adjustment,,,,,,,,,, where is it?

I had the feature on the 6-Pac CD changer radio in my 2001 SCrew, the instructions were in the owners manual,, I can't seem to find them in my new trucks manual.

Does my new radio have the feature?

If it is the same as my 2000 model, you push and hold the volume control in until the display reads "speed volume" then it gives you the option to select more or less with the "select" rocker switch doodad over on the right side.

Hope this helps.

Thumbs up

Thanks strmkr

It seems to work, kind of.

I tried it today on my wifes Escape with the same 6-CD Radio, it did what you discribed except for actually working. The "speed volume " prompt came up and I adjusted it to max, number 7, and waited till it went back to the radio. I tried to make it increase the volume by speeding up from 40kph to 120kph, no increase in volume.

Is there something I am doing wrong?

I will try it on my 03 SCrew tomorrow.

Any ideas?

The speed increase works on my CD-6. I have it set to "3", on "7" it went way too high.

Well it did work,,,,,,,,,,,,,

on my 03 SCrew anyway , big thanks strmkr.

FYI , it does not work on my wifes 02 Escape Midnight, same radio, premium sound and all but the "Speed Volume" feature dosn't work. The display says "Speed Volume" and will adjust from 1 to 7, but no change in actual volume. Oh well, I try to avoid driving that truck/car anyway. Hehe.

My 03 F150 Lariat Supercrew auto volume control will not work no matter what number I set it on. It is the am/fm cd/cassette unit and it shows numbers 1-7 when you hold the volume **** in for about 5 seconds. It has been to the dealer and a new radio installed but no luck. Anybody know what sends it the signal or have any ideas? My wifes 03 escape has the same feature with the 6 disc cd and it works great.

Thanks
Randy

I have the CD6 on my 2003 Expedition. I know it is supposed to have the speed control volume, but I have not tried to adjust it. I can't tell if it is working or not. I have noticed that when I speed up or down sometimes, I notice the radio lights flash out of the corner of my eye. I don't know if I am imagining it or not, but I think I also hear a "click" like static or something. I've tried to be aware of it more so I'll notice it while it happens, but I am driving, you know. Anybody else experience this? Is it broken?

I was looking for this in the manual for my 01 Screw, and couldn't find it. After reading this thread I went out and found it set at 4, so I changed it to 5. I will see what happens tomorrow morning.

Thanks for bringing it up.

Well, I tried it the other day while actually driving on the highway. I bumped it up to 3 from 0, definitely louder. Once I got off the highway the radio did quiet down some.

This feature doesn't work in my '03 SuperCrew with a CD6. I can hold the volume control in forever and no Speed Volume option appears. It worked great in my '01 and I miss it.

I wonder why this feature doesn't work in all trucks, especially the '03's? Like I said before, it works in my '03 XLT.

I have it set to "3" right now, any higher and it gets too loud.

Doug.
