pioneer 6 disk in dash wont work in L

hi all i just bought this pioneer 6 disk cd player from a guy on ebay. he said it came out of a explorer sport and he said it would fit in any 1.5 din opening so i put it in my lightning ( with a little cutting up under the dash) and it wont let me load any cds in the head unit?? i pluged the head unit in to the truck and the changer plug in to the truck
it will controle the changer behind the seat and the raido works
but it is also not as powerful as the stock head unit ( it has a plug for a factory amp which i think would solve the power problem )
any hints on what you guys think i sould do???
i payed 315.00 for it and thats a lot of money right after christmas
thanx

Josh first of all, the opening is double din, and so is the radio. But Im confused with what you are saying. Im fairly sure that the amount of space its mounted in has nothing to do with the cd's not loading. Sounds like an internal problem to me. Try testing it somehow, and provide us with more details.

I do believe that svtmagnus is correct, it is a 1.5 din.

the factory head unit is a din and a half opening
you can fit a double din head unit in if you trim a little here and there
my friend and i just tried to put the head unit in his expedition and it does the same thing so i guess that it will not work in my lightning.

Cool

Maybe I'm crazy, or maybe I'm not getting the whole picture here, but:

What vehicle the HU is installed in should not make a difference, unless there is a mechanical binding issue or a wiring issue.

If you take the HU and power it up on a work bench, you should be able to load CDs into it. If not, there is a problem with the unit and you should send it back.

My friend has a SportTrac with the Pioneer set-up in it. I do know that there is a factory amplifier in his truck; but I think it is only for the subwoofer?

Good luck...

BROKEN

Sounds like you bought a LEMON..................besides if fitting just fine............because it neither a 1.5 DIN or a DOUBLE DIN......not to be ****...but most GM and Chrysler are the only 1.5 DIN's out there, FORD is unique, more like a pain, modding is needing when putting in double dins.

Otherwise sounds like your in dash changer is BROKEN!

Yes, but the openings on the fords will accept two single din units so to me that makes it double din, however I do know it is not a true double din but it is alot closer to double din then 1.5 din.

just thought you guys should know, i just came back from the ford service dept. and they said that the head unit is broken. they also said it is broken because that hu is very fragile. if you even flip it up-side down it can screw it up, let alone ship it cross country. they said that when they (ford) get the head units they come with a special plastic brace that holds the cd mech. in place. so thanks for feedback
