I am tossing around the idea of adding a few mods before I go with a Chip. I read a few threads on this forum that said

1.) Throttle Body Spacers are Junk?

2.) Headers aren't worth the money, but by 'Neal' They ARE worth
the Money??

3.) Underdrive Pulleys ARe worth the money?

anyways, I just would like to know which mods are Worth the Money and which Aren't.

I currently have in mind: 1.) Bigger TB but HOW BIG CAN I GO ON A NAVIGATOR? 75-80mm? 2.) MAF Sensor, but they are very expensive, can I get a 90MM and is it worth the Money?? 3.) Underdrive Pulley, but All I can find is the 25% Crankshaft pulley? is that worth the Money? 4.) JBA HEaders, found them on Truckperformance.com for a VERY good price, but worh the Money? 5.) Superchip, but I need to use 91 octane gas

PLEASE ANY HELP WITH THIS WOULD BE GREAT. I AM LOST BETWEEN ALL THE OPINIONS ON THE FORUM AND I JUST NEED A GENERAL OPINION ON WHAT MODS ARE BEST AND WILL GIVE ME THE MOST HP. I currently have a K&N Fipk, FlowmasterExhuast, and Homeade RAM Air.

this may sound very stupid, and I think i DO know alot about Engines and stuff, although not THAT much, but what is a Torque converter.. Please don't make fun.. I just dont' know....

 

I wouldnt waste a dime on throttle body spacers.

Under drive pulleys are defiantly a must!

If you can afford it I would get the MAS, the JBA headers and the superchip.

My next mod is a MAS and some JBA headers... however I do not want to void my warrantee because I only have 34k miles on my 98. So I may work on the body work for a bit until I get a few more miles on my truck to do any more performace upgrades.

I bought the Hypertec due to the fact of the 91 octane gas thing.. I figure if I am going to add headers, MAS, Power Pullies, and some Electric Fans then I should wait to get my Superchip later down the road so I will not have to keep reburning my chip. The Hypertec does not give you as much power boost as the superchip but it is much easier to configure and is well worth the money until you get into more serious mods.

Thanks for the comments. They proved helpful, but I am still deciding between the MAS and the new larger TB. Combined with the Underdrive pulley set, will I feel more HP with the new TB or with the MAS? And for the MAS, is Grantelli Motorsports a good brand?
