Are intakes worth it?

Im planning on buying a intake kit for my dad on fathers day. Thing is, I cant decide on the brand!

But now, the more I read, the more problems I see. Filters coming off, people ordering replacement parts, etc.

Is it worth it to get an aftermarket intake?

Yes, they're worth it. They're one of the top 3 mods for the buck. Will your Dad appreciate improved performance? If you buy a good kit and install it properly, you won't have the mentioned problems.

maybe just consider getting the K&N filter for the stock box. Put on on my truck and it's better than the stock filter. Get a little noise, and with my exhaust I gained an honest 1 MPG. Got my filter at Auto Zone for $45.

I had an Af-1 installed yesterday, and I can honestly say I noticed a difference in power.
Nothing that will knock your socks off, but I definitly noticed a gain.
I don't believe the HP claims those intake companies claim, but I still think I picked up 4 or 5.

Also too, the fit and finish of this product is very good, everything fits together like it should, it's a well made product.

Hope this helps
