Question about sound of an Intake?
I have read a lot of posts and threads that say a FIPK has a growl or rumble to it. Does this sound come from the engine or does it just make the exhaust louder?
SweetSilver-
The factory intake has provisions to quiet things down engineered into it in the form of a "silencer". The FIPKs don't have this, they focus on maximum, smooth flow. The engine and exhaust is unchanged, but the intake makes a sucking sound similar to a traditional 4-barrel sound when floored.

To tell the truth, I personally have never noticed any type of "sucking sound" whatsoever, at any rpm. I think sound shouldn't be the focus of the PIPK but of the exhaust.
The only sucking sound I hear is usually on Friday nites really.. Then my exhaust pipe gets a real workout..
