Question Need to run coax cable from bed to the cab.

It is my understanding that there is a vent on the rear of the cab to run a coax cable through. How do I get access to the vent so that I may run a coax cable from the bed of my 2000 F-150 to inside the cab for my CB radio. Thanks in advance for any help or information.

if you remove the trim under the window you can then reove the carpeted trim at the back wall of the cab. You will see vents on both sides of the truck.

Thanks for the advice.

I forgot to mention that I have an extended cab. Tomorrow I will look to see how to get the back of the rear seat off to acess the vents. Thanks again.

Thumbs up Back seat is easy

All you have to is fold you back seat down, locate the hooks at the bottom of the back cushion that hold it in place, push them towards the back of the cab and lift. Your rear seat back should pop right out and you'll see the vents. Hope this helps.

Thumbs up

Flip the seat up, and push the cable in from the outside under the truck. The vents are easily visible from there, and you won't have to pull the whole seat out to do it,,,,98

If the coax cable has the connector on it,you may have to cut one of the ribs out of the vent, though.

Drill a hole in the floor and run the wire through it and seal it with some flexible caulking. Don't run it through the vent. It will not operate as designed after that, which I believe is to release pressure while closing the doors and operating the A/C fans. Putting a wire through it will keep it in the open postion at all times. ennis

Thanks for the advice.

I looked under the truck and was able to locate the vents very easily. They look very accessable from there. I thinkI may have to give some thought to fourhour's comment about drilling a hole in the floor also. Thanks again. Ricky.T

Hi

Dont know if my 99SC has those cab vents, dosent matter now.
Am curious now...so will probably take a look. Someone said here once...they were better off before reading these bds.

I found rubber plugs in the frame under cab...Pulled one out to take a look..could get coax with connector up thru that hole.

I cut small x in that rubber plug and put coax thru it...fished coax up thru small hole (in floor) on pass. side rear..just inside by sill. Ran that coax under rear seat to under front seat to radio mounted up front. I used spiral wrap to protect coax etc.

Pushed plug back in hole. That may work for you/maybe not?

Good luck...OT

I have installed my CB antenna through that plastic grid, it has two sheets of thick plastic that you have to cut through but you dont have to break the actual hard plastic grid, I dont see how it vents anything, might have been a place to lift the cab at the assembly line. The nice thing about that vent is that it is right across from the plastic plug in your bed so you dont have to drill in any metal.
