Need help with towing mirror choice
Need help with towing mirror choice
I am picking up my 21ft 5th wheel next week and I need to make an extended mirror decision. Can I buy the Ford extendable mirrors for my truck? If so what should I ask for? ) My Ford parts guys don’t seem to know about things like this)
I know about the clip on ones but am afraid they will scratch the chromed plastic back on my stock ones. Also I am concerned about vibration and the possibility on them falling off or being stolen. I am posting this question twice just so everyone will know. Thanks in advance.

Hi
You might want to take a look....
www.lucerix.com x-mount mirrors 1-800-295-3703
I put these on my 99SC. Really increases your rear-view. Extend out approx: 4 1/4" (manuel/elect) Nice fit, easy to install, however these are complete replacements..have to remove old mirrors. Look like OEM installed.
Ford parts didnt have mirror like this...only the tow mirrors for the SD....that dont fit on the F150etc.
I didnt get the concave (pass. side) I like seeing the true size object/distance in mirror.
I had the **** slip-on...but didnt like looking at double view and dosent really increase your overall rear view like x-mount.
Many styles..types..prices...but glad i got these.
Good luck...OT

Extended mirrors
The Lucerix mirrors will not fit on a SuperCrew.
They are the nicest I've seen and am sorry I can't use them.
This type of mirror (Bestop brand) is available through Summit Racing at $299/pair, but be sure to state the exact model of truck you have if you order.
Have had the **** mirrors for quite a while and have had no trouble seeing with them while towing a 24' trailer ..... Bought them at WalMart for about $50/pair. If you use them be sure to cover the bar that holds them against the stock mirror with tape or a piece of cloth to keep from scratching your mirrors. If installed properly, they will not fall off or vibrate

I use the **** slip on mirrors on my Supercrew and have used them on a 98 Supercab towing both 22 and 31 foot trailers for over 10,000 miles of towing in the last few years. The 98 Supercab had painted mirrors and they did scuff a little. The supercrew has chrome and with many thousands of miles of towing there are no scuffs or scratches.
I just picked up a pair today at my local camper supply store.
They are made by Vision View, They are trick. They have a single
strap for the top and bottom of your truck's mirror and three
screew out legs to level them. They are small but exstend out
further than any mirror I have seen yet, Try your local camper or RV store and see if they have them. I bet you will like them as much as I do
