Has anyone tried to leave in 1/2 of the original air box (the part that is connected to the fender). I just assume that you would suck colder air this way instead of getting the majority of the air from hot engine. Just curious.

I don't think that it would make enough difference in air temp to make it worthwhile.

A formal cold air intake would be the answer.
