Ram Air??
Has any one rigged a ram air on a '99 XLT with any of the after market FIPK? I was thinking of doing the ram air intake from one of the openings on the air dam. From what I have read on the messege board, it looks like the Velocity Tube would be easy to modify. Please post ideas and or picture of an install.
Thanks,
Anthony

From what I understand, there is way more to ram air than I had ever thought. It has to be completely sealed, and if it isn't matched to perfection, then it isn't even worth trying to do. Ram air doesn't really have an effect until you reach a decent speed, anyway, cold air induction is always good, but if you have any source where 'underhood' air can get into your system, it is a waste of time. This is just the impression I am under, anyway. Homemade ram air kits usually look good, but they're not as functional as you may think, because it takes a lot of work getting them sealed off properly, or you may as well just have an open filter. Just the impression I am under.
A friend of mine has a Mitsubishi Eclipse (can I say that here?) found a set of fans that go in the intake, works like a poor mans supercharger. He paid about $150 for it and claims it works great, more hp and torque. It looks like a TB Spacer with two fans in it. Something along these lines might work alittle better than "Ram Air" since you would not have to drive nearly as fast to get it to work. Much cheaper on the wallet to (less speedig tickets).....
