Unhappy Need help!!!!

The back glass on an Astro camper shell shattered (don't make me relive my stupidity by giving details).

The problem is I only had it on over the weekend to see how I liked it. I called the owner earlier today to line up a time to give it back since I had decided not to go with this style of top.

Well, due to my stupidity, I am buying the top after all.

Can the back glass and frame be replaced? If so, does anyone know how much it would cost?

Thanks in advance.

My buddie's truck had tinted glass on the rear window of the cap and someone broke it to see if there was anything worth stealing inside his bed

I'm not familiar with the cap you're talking about but my buddie's window was tempered glass set in an extruded aluminum channel frame. We removed it from the cap, layed it on the floor and and took the frame apart by removing two sheetmetal screws that held it together. We then traced a stencil of the frame using cardboard and scissors. After that, we layed the stencil onto a sheet of clear Plexiglass, traced it out then cut it out with a jigsaw.

After cutting it out we set it back into the frame and reassembled the whole thing. It was a cheap and easy fix for him and he chose clear Plexiglass because anyone can look in and see that there's nothing of value inside. Plexiglass would be fine, Lexan would be better if you could use it. Both are available in clear or various stages of tint.

Good luck, I hope this can be of some help to you.

OK, here goes...

(I've been w/o the computer for a week or so, hence the late response)

I was trying out the shell for the weekend from a neighbor that gets them from dealerships not wanting them on their used inventory. He then sells them in the local classifieds. He found one that matches my truck EXACTLY and asked if I was interested.

While using it, I realized it wouldn't be what I need (I do too much woodworking, landscaping, etc. and would need access to an open bed). I called him on Saturday to arrange a time to return the shell. Sunday I'm at my sister's doing some built in cabinets when I begin to back into her garage. Not being used to the shell, I forgot that the hatch was up. The edge caught the frame of the garage and the glass SHATTERED!!! Glass was EVERYWHERE! Fortunately there was no other damage.

Now I am the proud owner of a damaged Astro shell.
