KC behind the grille

Here's how I installed a couple of KC Daylighters behind the grille. I bought the angle iron from Lowe's and the KC's from Pep Boys...took a couple of days but I work slow (and cheap!)

That looks good. I am considering the same thing, either mounted to the fiberglass support or something like you did. How about the wiring and switch? My biggest concern is how to mount a switch in a new SCrew and have it look nice.

Radio Shack Switches

Swap out the switch with one that you can get at Radio Shack for about 3 bocks. The switches are oval-shaped lighted rocker switches that will work perfectly with the KC wiring (or any other wiring for that matter). The oval shape really goes well with the Ford interior. I used the KC switch but plan to replace it with the Radio Shack one pretty soon. I mounted the switch on the plastic surround that is just below the speedo/guage opening and surrounds the top of the steering wheel column. Its easy to snap out, too.

I used a rotary tool on slow speed to open up a hole for the switch. I used the space just right of the column so I could see the switches from the driving position.

Nice job. That's what I used until I added two more lights (4 total). I later had to use a thicker angle iron.

Yes. But you will have to reinforce the fiberglass crossmember with something to hold 4 lights. Or you can do like Marv1 and I did. I did originally had one set of 7" Piaa 80XT's and set of 6" KC's behind the grille. But later changed to 4 KC's and put the Piaa's in the airdam.

Nice looking truck Jupiterak. I think my next project will also be lights in the grill. Are daylighters the best fit for that space. That airdam looks great with the grill and headlights. Nice job!!!

Thanks all. It's a Piaa airdam. They usually go for around $180-200.00. I later had a local autopaint shop paint it for $150.00.

Sweeet!!

Jupiterak:

That's one great-looking truck you have. I like all of the various lights you have installed...I'll bet you don't have any trouble seeing at night. The OEM lights are so inadequate, but some additional lights may up for the deficient stock lighting.

I've had the airdam on for almost a year now and no problems at all. I made sure the paintshop did a good job painting this thing so it'll last through the winter. Especially with all the gravel they put on the roads in A.K.
