Question Changing out battery Help ASAP

My stock motorcraft battery doesn't want to hold a charge anymore, had to get a boost 3 times in the last 10 days. I mean once was enough forsure. But anyway I would appreciate this forms input as to which battery would be good to replace it with. There are so many of the darn things out there I think that most of them are probably junk? 97/4.6L Thanks.

Get the one with the longest warrantee you can afford. If the heat does not kill a battery the cold will so replacement is something to look forward to.
I, like you am still running on the original battery in my 97. I keep thinking I should start to carry jumper cables for the time it does not want to go.
Interstate batteries always had good Consumer Reports ratings.

Thanks for your feed back. Yes I believe you are right. Especially here in Las Vegas. And a battery can quit without warning too. Thanks again

My factory battery died on me about a month ago in my 97 and I replaced it with a DieHard battery, Silver series I believe, and it has something in the order of 900 cold cranking amps and 115 min of standby power. When my alternator went out 2 weeks ago it kept me going. I'm real impressed with this battery.

Battery Replacement

cobrahms9, I put in a duel battery system. One is deep cycle and the other is regular. They are both Optima bateries. I live in cold winters, but during the summer of 2001 I drove through all the hot states of the southern states, yes Nevada included. With the duel system, the only thing I need to jump my truck is a small wire to close the isolator solinoid. The Optima seems to be a good battery. They are a little bit on the high side of the dollar but all the same.... good.

Cool

HI!... COBRAHMS9 : My factory battery died after it would'nt except a charge anymore. I discharged it many times at the dragstrip because when in the pitts I run two electric cooling rad fans and 1 tranny cooler fan. Many times I had to get a jump at the track. I decided to go with a OPTIMA "YELLOW TOP" deep cycle battery. ALL I CAN SAY is that this was the best decission I ever made! It can be totally discharged up to 315 times and will except a FULL charge again. Now when I go to the track I've left my fans on up to an hour and the truck fires right up with NO problems. If I were you, I'd go with a "YELLOW TOP" OPTIMA!

I want to thank all you guys for your response and info. I decided to go with the warranty and just got a Energizer (the bunny) it has 1000 cca, 2 yr/84mo plus free 1yr roadside. What the heck for $70.00 don't think I could go wrong. But let me tell you I was really surprised as to how bad my battery was, this one cranks it up so fast I think it might hurt it. What a difference. Thanks again.
