IMO, I prefer the Volant or K&N kits over any other.

I like K&N because they've been around/stand behind their products for decades, they're CARB certified for 50 states, and they invented the high performance gauze filter. Personal opinion only, no flames please.

Read my signature. I would go with the Volant. At least you are getting cool air and the inspector man won't dink ya.

Question poindexter-

Maybe you should have them show you where it says that in the code and what code # that is. You can see what is normal to be required here www.txdps.state.tx.us/vi/insp.asp and an open filter is not mentioned anywhere.

I prefer the Volant. I've had the K&N and the Airaid installed on my truck.
I don't have hard dyno numbers but the Ford V8's don't like hot air.
You will FEEL the difference between the Volant and any of the open filter intakes. Especially on hot humid days.

*****, totally agree. I think the Air Raids and similar systems get more heat soaked cuz they're metal, therefore affecting performance.

Thumbs up

My K&N has passed inspection twice, Houston is probably the most strict of all the TX cities. One place was picky enough to make me pull the upper windshield tint off so I could pass. My personal preference would be K&N.,,,,98

Truck Perfomance carries the Volant intakes. Most major peformance stores should carry them as well. Just shop around for the best bargain.
