FIPK assistance (spec Air Force 1)

Ok, guys, got my Air Force 1 installed today. Had to re-drill the holes in the venturi generator to match up with the MAF (common problem. Also had to make a gasket to seal the gap between these two pieces.

Everything went in fine, and I had my battery disconnected the whole time to clear memory.

Now the engine refuses to idle. You start it up and it idles extremely low (around 300-400) and dies. If you give it a little throttle, it will run and it's actually drivable. I took it out for a drive and it actually runs well, but watch out when coming to stop. I drove it a little today and it seems to be getting better. I've done some searches that point at the IAC, but why would this happen all of a sudden immediately after installing the AF1?

When I was putting the system together I saw the potential to block the two holes in the breather boot, but I was sure I was carefull enough not to do that.

I get no CE light except when the engine fails to run.

Also, when I turn the engine off, I hear a wheeeeeeeeze immediately after the engine stops.

Anyone else had any similar issues? Thanks!

Angry Neeeeeeeevermind - I'm an idiot sometimes

As I was sitting here, wondering what stuid thing I had done to cause my problems, I grabbed my keys and headed back out to the truck.

I gotta know, I just gotta know - I popped the hood, pulled the lines fed from the breather boot, and sure enough, shiny metal. CRAP!!!! In wrestling with that bracket getting the air filter perfectly centered and the AF tube sitting just right, I must have forced the tube farther into the boot.

OK, so my contribution today, fellow F150'ers, I was an idiot, and now maybe I can save some poor chap from making the same mistake.

Hey, at least coming here I was able to find out an IAC problem would cause a no-idle. I also dicovered that not letting it get any air would also cause the same problem!

Oh, and the wheeeeeeeeze went away too.

Air Force One

My Screw started making a noise not unlike a squeeky fan belt. However, the noise came from the bell housing. The Ford service guys couldn't figure it out. They even went to the point of holding the phone up to the truck so the guys in Motown could hear it. Here is what they said, "the air intake you installed is creating too much preasure in the engine and the squeal you hear is air being forced out the back seal." Any thoughts? Sid I miss something in instillation?

I'm sorry, but I don't think they're right

Once I fixed my vacuum line problem, all of my strange noises went away.

I also had a "squeeky fan belt noise" that would come and go. That's gone too.

I'd re-check everything for a good fit. My problem was the steel tube had gotten pushed too far into the intake an blocked the vaccum lines running off to the right (driver's side) of the engine.

Did your problems start immediately after installing the intake, or take a while to show up? Hope you can get it figured out. I'm really starting to enjoy this intake.
