Good Remote Truck Starter?
shark
Sounds like you want the same thing I want. I already have a factory keyless entry system. I don't want to have to connect all the doorlock stuff up with the remote starter too.
I'll be ordering my system later next week and installing starting the following monday.

Guys,
I got the Python 551P system today, and it works great
so far from what I can see... They incorporated the chip from
our keys into the system, and added my keyless entry onto the
same remote... works upto 700 feet...
Anyway, total cost was 366$ Canadian.
I am very happy with this setup.
Good luck on your decisions.

F150 Door Locks
I noticed that a lot of you guys are going into the door to get the doorlocks working. VERY unnecessary. If you have the factory ketless entry (usually on the larits and the expiditions) or the keypad on the outside under the handle, you will need no relays, just a negative pulse from the alarm/starter ect. there is a little grey box to the left of the steering wheel with two plugs on it. way up in the dash but very reachable. just tap those wires and your done. if no keyless entry, there is a harness up in the dash taped up to the left of the wheel. just cut some tape back and you will have to wire a 12v+/rest at ground relay system to work the lock/unlock. The wire colors are Pink/Green and Pink/Yellow.
Also, for the remote starters, the easist way I have foind to do this is to put a spare key in the dash. What we do is take 22awg wire and wrap it around the key 4 or 5 times and then wrap it around the key cylinder the same. and back to the key to complete the loop. Don't know how this works, but it does. can see the transpoder in the key working, but the wire picking up the signal.. amazing. Hondas and Nissans are the same way now on another note.
Hope I've helped some of you out. Saved you some time anyway.

I suppose if this works you could use a relay to break the coil when the remote starter isn't working. Then you would not be defeating the P.A.T.S. thats how the $24.50 transponder box works .......I think I'll try it.....just for the fun of it..
Results of some random research: you do not need to have a programmed key to run the vehicle, just to start it. After remote starting the truck I can put a "DOOR ONLY" key in the ignition and drive the truck. I know the transponder is inactive unless the remote is used because the above key will not start the truck.

you're right
you're right about the PATS system not working iwth a key in the dash. I have tried to use a relay to get the signal broken and making you have to have a coded key to start it. No luck. it reads the signal thru the coil of the relay. oh well.
where do you get the 24.99 piece you are talking about. somehting I might want to order for my stores. I know I wouldn't want any key starting my truck either.
Also, when you put a key in the dash, sometimes a coded key will not start the truck, I have had to take the transponder out of some keys. Of course, these are customers that are made FULLY aware of what we are doing and they are OK with it. They realize that there is a key (we cut the key cut off so there is no actual starting key in the dash) in the dash and the theft system is bypassed, but we do put in a starter kill with the alarms we put in, so they ok that. (Just don't what you guys thinking I'm a hack. LOL. Been doing this for 17 years)

the one and only problem i had was: I installed the transponder using the "Keysense" wire...you don't need it and further more the truck wouldn't start with it connected.....I would think about trying the wire wrapped around the key trick.....add your own mini relay and your good to go for about 2.45 instead of 24.50...just a thought.... I installed 3 so far...my wifes plymouth...my screw..and my buddies superduty...talked to Derek at 12vot and he answered questions and helpd me out.....I am having trouble with the superduty locks but it doesn't have the remote locks, just power locks..my truck was simple.....also installed the keypad tonight..that tok all of 30 minutes....i have to say, Ford is making it eassy to work on your own truck.....
