CB Antenna through Firewall -- quick install question
CB Antenna through Firewall -- quick install question
So I've reversed from getting the firestik mount and instead purchased the grip-it mount for the hood of my super duty.
I currently have a magnetic mount antenna with the coax threaded through a grommet in the middle of the cab (on the bottom). I have a super duty crew cab, so there are a few entry points into the cab.
Here's the question...
Is there a "grommet" somewhere on the firewall that would allow me the opportunity to pass the wire through to the cab? Or... since the one grommet is already "opened", should I look to use that one (which means I will be threading the cable down the engine compartment and under the cab to the hole.
Thoughts?
More importantly -- what should I use to seal around the cable going through the grommet?
Thanks in advance.
Time to keep planning for my few truck projects this weekend...

Confused....
I have the 'gripper' system mount on my L but it's for the front bed rail, not the hood? If you mount it on the bed rail, the coax can be pushed thru the 'fresh-air vent on either lower rear corner of the cab. If you end up needing to come thru the f/wall; I used(for my power line to the battery) the grommet around the steering wheel shaft--cut a slit in it and it seemed to seal by itself.

The deed has been done, here is how...
There are a few versions of the gripper. Since I have a cap on the truck... I went with the Gripper for the hood. Basically, loosen a body bolt, slide it under, tighten it and you're done.
For the wiring... I opted for an easier route. Since the mag mount antenna was already wired into the cab, I snaked the wire from the gripper down the fender, through some body work under the truck and into the existing hole. Ran the wire under the carpet and into the back of the radio.
Now it's nice and clean; no drilling -- and works great.
