Question Remote Car Starters

Hey all wondered if anyone has put remote starters on their trucks and if you have had any probs with the Ford security/key system. I have a 01 Screw and want to have an avital avistart 4000 installed (great system includes remote locking, added theft protection, good range, automatic startup in extreme cold to prevent block freeze, etc.) I had this system on a T-bird and a Crown Vic without any problems. However, I saw in the manual that my truck has some encoded key that will prevent the truck from starting without the correct key in the ignition. Anyone know if there is a workaround for this? Or has anyone had any problems with this issue? What pther remote starters have you all used that you like/dislike? Thanks for the advice.
Patrick

I purchased mine at www.12voltshop.com and had no problems installing it. I do not have the coded key but there were bypass instructions included. I believe that it cancels out the protection alltogether though. Check them out, they also respond to questions via email very quickly. ennis

Thumbs up

I had the Viper alarm installed in my SCrew and whatever system they use for a starter. The Ford key and security system still function as from the factory and starts fine without a key. I'm not sure which module thats added to make it work. Some systems insert the top of a key into it which bypasses Fords system.
