Powerstep running boards w/ oem ford controller?

I Just got a new '11 Supercrew FX4 ecoboost truck and I got it without factory running boards. The only option I had at the time of ordering was the painted ones and I did NOT want those. I'm a fan of a clean looking truck so the AMP power steps would be perfect. I see that the Platinum f-150s come with power running boards standard and what I was wondering is if anybody has tried to install the amp boards using a OEM ford running board controller? All you would gain by doing this is the ability to turn them on or off through the cluster and not having to wire to the door pins or power.

I really don't see any reason the factory controller wouldn't work with the aftermarket boards unless ford had some sort of databus output down to the factory boards.

I know this may be a long shot but does anybody know if this is possible?

*edit*

The only reason I'm asking about mixing aftermarket boards with a factory controller is because I'm guessing the complete OEM board setup would cost 3 times as much from ford as it would by mixing OEM with aftermarket.
