Watts are Watts its all light output. So there's the comparison as to how bright led's are compared to regular bulbs. The led's and your OEM back up lights aren't really for lighting up the roadway...just for a warning to other motorists. If you want the roadway lit up you will have to stay with your lights under the bumper and when the cheap bulbs go just replace them with some good ones like Silverstars or the like. I have done the same and they are great at lighting up the area behind the truck for backing. I agree also that the bulbs in the Walmart lights are cheap and don't last long because I had already replaced one in mine after about 2 months or so. Led's are getting better/brighter too so don't loose hope in them...there are some pretty bright ones out there like the SMT styles, like : Autolumination.com

Sorry for the book but wanted to explain everthing.

this thing is the bomb, its the brightest led system i have seen for the price. the leds in the lamp you where looking at where some of the dimmest/cheapest and often go out, this is made with cree leds which are some of the best you can find out there.
