Console Vault

Ok not to be a D1ck but I know someone is going to say it's called the search button, well I did just gotta another question

I carry a pistol in my truck a/b 90% of the time, I am a naturalist at a plantation down here in SC, and I use it to kill rattlesnakes, finish off deer that have been hit by cars, and obviously for personal protection outside of the property. Well I am trying to be more responsible and lock up my truck and my belongings so some crook doesn't get a hold of them. So let's hear some reviews on the Consule Vault, I would like to hear the good and the bad. Also if someone can point me in the right direction of where the cheapest place to get one is.

*I was going to get one that went under the seat but I like the idea of being able to lock my GPS in there too.

Thanks In Advance

I don't have the console vault, but I do have a Gunsafe mounted in my console. As a CCW holder I usually have a gun on me, however there are times I can't carry with me so it stays in the truck. The extra piece of mind is well worth the price. We have ended up using it for more than just guns, including wallets, credit cards etc. Only draw back is lost console space. In my opinion well worth the trade off.

yeah not worried about the lost console space, $300 is a little pricey for me though, but its a good investment too

Here are some pictiures of my setup.

The gun safe has 6 mounting holes, already in place to allow mounting.
I drilled through the inner liner, then used M8 Socket headed cap screws and nuts from inside the safe, through the console, and through some strip steel. I then attached the strips to some of the internal steel console structure. Its not perfect, but to get it out, wiould require busting out or disassembling the console to get to the mounts. Either way a time consuming process, then they will still have to hall off the safe with the strips attached, and then open the safe.

R&D enterprises manufactured teh safe, I believe they may be out of business however. There are severl companise that manufacture similar small gun safes. Stack on makes one, as well as gun vault. Not sure on the console size. Before I bought the gun safe, for my 98 F150, I actually looked at different sizes and made cardboard replicas to see what would fit. Luckily the one I bought for teh F150, was nearly a perfect fit for the Expd.

I have the console vault in my truck. Don't expect quick access if your gun is in vault, but it's a great secure way to store it. It will cut down on your console storage space, but made me really assess what I needed to keep under lock and key. If you want your gun more accessible while traveling, I'd suggest you take it out the vault. You can unlock the vault, but the key won't come out unless it's in the lock position. You can close the lid on the console while the key is in the vault without any issues, at least I can with a flow through console.

I have a flow through console as well, I just want it to lock up my gun, surefire, wallet, and GPS if need be. I am going to take my CWP at the end of February. So trying to get stuff lined up now, last thing I wanna do is arm a criminal. I may go look at bass pro and see if they have one that will fit in my console. I don't wanna be cheap but $300 is a lot.

Something else to keep in mind in looking at your options, is makeing sure, the gun will fit. Mine works fine for my H&K P2000, Kel Tec and Mauser, but will not fit my GP100 4" revolver.

I keep a Glock 30 in mine and I've had my 23 in the same soft case I have it in, so the XD should fit. I think a bare 1911 would fit, but I haven't tried it. However, if you have it in a soft case it might not fit all that easy.

Stupid question but you're talking about the console vault right?
