headache rack

i've got an 07 f150 supercrew. i'm thinking of installing a headache rack to go with my brushguard and tool box. anybody have some good pics of one installed or any brand suggestions? all of my add ons ( brushguard, tool box, visors, mudguards, even a stubbie radio antenna) are black so i am looking into a black headachre rack as well.

I would go to a shop that works with metal and bring in some designs of how you want it and see if they will quote you on a price. My buddy had one built for his 350 and designed it with led lights going up the sides mounts on top for his antenna and snowplow light and had pockets for back up lights in the corners. They he had a combo of steel mesh and louvers going across it, it came out really nice and they built it for him for $300 then he had it powder coated for another $100. You could just get some quotes and see what you can come up with, some people are desperate for the work right now and will give you a heck of a deal.

Just curious why do people use a headache rack. To me it just seem to look clunky and reduce visibility. Hardly to I ever haul stuff that could crush my back window, if I do it gets tied down or taken in two trips. Just curious, no thread crapping here

I have mine on my truck as i usually have rocks and logs that are hard to strap down really well so it will help out a bit in stopping them from coming through the window. It also helps if you have to carry ladders and such so you dont have them sticking out of the bed so far....heres mine it is not black but it gives you an idea.
Make sure when you get one though that you get one for a tool box most arent wide enough to fit them so they have special brackets for them.

alot of ppl use them because they have to mount lights or antennas without having to cut holes in there roof, the only reason I have considered getting one is because Im loading my bed with firewood all the time and just throwing it in there but I get real worried one time im going to feel a little strong and just toss it through my window.. I have come close a couple times luckly my tool box takes the beating and my tailgate unfortunately.
