For those with troyer e-fans

i have a question on the wiring.

so both fans have a blue and black wire and the sticker on the fans says the positive wire is the black one.

but in troyers directions they say theirs was the blue wire.

anybody that has recently installed them what did you use?

also on the fans controllers. i know that the yellow and green wires get spliced for remote turn on but does the large red wire get connected to the fans black wire and the blue wire from the controller get connected to the fans bolue wire or what?

-I used the black wire on the fans as the positive. blue was negative. You can check this with a 9 volt battery to figure out if the fan will push or pull once it is installed. ( smoke detector nearby?)
-large red wire on the controller should be the ground for the fans. connect the ground wire on the fans to this.
- i ordered my fan kit a week ago and just completed it yesterday.

ok so black on the fans (+) connects to the large red wire that will connect to (+) battery

blue on the fans (-) connects to large red wire of the fan controllers which are (-)

what about the large blue wire on the controllers?

be sure to check and see if the black wire on the fan is positive. I used a 9 volt battery to check the direction of rotation of the fan to ensure that when i wired it up it would be in the pulling configuration. So, take a 9v battery, touch the black wire on the fan to + and then touch the blue wire to the -neg. This should move the fan just enough for you to tell the direction.
The blue wire on the controller should be the controller ground connection.

mine are set at 204 and 214 to come on just as troyer says ,,, the theromstat just is opening at 194 so you fan will fight with the thermostat ,,my truck runs around 200 temp going down the road so the best of both worlds... no load on the alt. and no fan spining just good mpgs

I WOULD TURN IT UP A BIT IF IT WERE ME

It sounds like you have a broken switch. Those little plastic parts are not too durable. They break easily. Once you have it set, then just leave it alone.

ok so ive been playing around with it for awhile now TRYING to get the first fan to come on at 200 CHT but it comes on at 206

the second one i still cant get to come on at a higher temp.

some say go by the ECT because the t-stat opens at 195 and when i set the fan at 200 for the CHT the ECT is always at about 194.

should i change it so i try and get the fan to come on at 200 ECT??

also the temperature probes, could they be doing this? one of them is a little bit loose but only if you pull it. the other one is better

200 ect seems hot to me my truck runs at around 192 to 196 ect all the time and around 198 to 202 cht all the time here down south in the heat. at around 194 ect and 202 cht the factory cooling clutch fan switches to high speed. and dont the tstats on these trucks start to open at 190 to 195 and arent fully open till around till around 215?

I used my Xcal2 to datalog the coolant temperature and set the two sensors at 196 and 204. As mentioned, the factory is at 196. The measurement Troyer recommends of 204/214 appears to using an infrared thermometer pointed at the radiator and not the coolant temperature directly, so I think if you measure the coolant temp directly, you should do what I did... 196 and 204. I've never verified these numbers w/ Troyer, but rather be safe than sorry when it came to be 1600 mile trip last week.

When you say "the factory is at 196", are you saying this is the ect at which the thermostat opens or the optimum operating temp If either, is this the temp you feel the low speed fan should come on?

Now you've got me thinking cuz I have my fans set at 202/212 as measured with an IR thermometer. Do you feel the measurement at the radiator would be that much different than the actual ect? Don't mean to be a pain with the questions, I'm just concerned like you as I'm preparing for a 1200 mile trip through south Texas!
