Starter Kill for a remote start

Been chating with Travis at KCAutosound. He has been a great help and has went over and beyond answering a bunch of questions from me.
But I still cant get my thoughts together on this "StarterKill" option of a remote start.
He has tried to explain it to me and I think that ive been so overhelmed by all our conversations that at this point a fresh response would be needed.

What is it?
Whats its purpose?
I know it requires cutting a wire to hook it up but Do I really need to hook it up since ford has its PATS key system?

Thanks

BTW. If you are remotely even thinking of getting a remote start or alarm. I would differently give Travis a call or a email.

Starter kill is simply a relay that is placed between the ignition and the starter. You will cut the starter wire in half that comes from the ignition and connect this relay between it. Quite a few alarm systems such as the Code Alarm systems have the starter kill internally. There is a violet wire and a green wire that comes out of the system. You cut your starter wire in half and connect these two wires to the two ends of the cut starter wire.

To me I hate cutting a starter wire in half if the vehicle is equipped with a anit-theft key system. Our Ford trucks have one of the best coded key systems available. Has to be a pretty smart guy to bypass the coded key system. In my thoughts, if the guy can master a coded key system then whats connecting a starter wire back together. To each his own though. I have installed MANY systems that have been purchased through Travis for my buddies, family, and co-workers.

Im just gonna do a remote start not a alarm.
He has told me that I could do it either way, hook it up or leave it.

But Isnt the bypass part of the remote start pretty much the coded key system? You install it and the truck thinks the key is in the truck.

If a thief was good enough he would notice that the starter wire was cut in half and to just reconnect. So then he could just start because of the bypass unit.?

I assume the thief could manipulate a bypass module to trick the vehicle into starting. First he would have to dismantle the bottom of the dash. He would then have to power the module up during crank and then somehow immobilize the steering lock. Man if he's that far into my truck he's probably got it anyways.

So in your opinion the extra effort of starter kill is a waste
