A buddy of mine has a westin sportsman brushguard off of his '05 4x4 that supposedly fits only '04-'05 models. What is the difference between his '05 and my '06. Why would it not fit befor I take the time to try.

 

There were some changes between 04 and 05. If the Westin site lists different parts between 05 and 06, they you are out of luck.

 

Got any idea what kind of differences?

 

hay gents did you have to loss your tow hooks with that bull bar or can one be installed and retain your hooks?

 

I'm not sure about bull bars but with westin and ranchhand brush guards you can keep your hooks. Best way to find out is to go to the website for whichever one you're looking at and find the install sheet. That should tell you.

 

With the bull bars you loose your tow hooks, I think i remember some one was able to put the two hooks back on but got long bolts to fit both bull bar and tow hooks.

The main difference is the mounting points for the bumper. The 04-05 grille guards were engineered to mount on them. The 07-08 guards attach on a flimsy piece of metal which goes under the headlights.
