Question Viper 5701

Just picked up a Viper 5701 Security & and Remote Start for my 04 SCREW. I'm anxious to get it installed, but the salesperson told me I would need a Universal Transponder Bypass. Anyone have an idea whether or not I really need this??

Probably, I just got an AutoStart AS-2361TW-FM remote start for my '05 F150. You can get something like the XpressKit XK04 as a bypass. You'll still need 2 keys that are already valid in the computer to program it, though. I haven't gotten around to installing the system yet. It's something I kind of want to do myself, so I'm reading up on some stuff before I start. Anyway, if you have chip keys for your truck, you'll need a bypass unit.

I believe it is what will disable the PATS system or the alarm to start the truck.

You do need a bypass, but the universal one would be very dumb. Try a DEI PKFORD, DEI XK04 or a DEI 556SW. These all dont require losing an extra key. The first one is self-learning, making it very easy for you.

Thanks for your advice. Got everything working great. Even went ahead and setup my subs and PS2 installed. Probably going to replace door speakers next; contemplating component/coaxial. Either way I'll post some pics when complete.
