Alarm System Suggestions

I have decided that my next $$$ mod will be an alarm, seeing as i have about $2k in aftermarket/sound stuff on my truck. I want to protect it!

I have been looking into which company, model, all that good stuff, and have concluded that I want either a Viper or Clifford. *(p.s. I didnt know they were made by the same company...i think...)

anyways does anyone have any feedback on the Viper 5900 or the Clifford equivalent? I want to have a pager, and remote start is optional(but preferrable).

any input in greatly appreciated guys!

thanks,

I've had the Python (Viper) for about 5 years now with almost no problems. The reason I say almost is that when it is very cold out (< 20 F), my remote start doesn't work right. The engine idles up too high and it cuts back off. Any other time it works perfectly. It could be fixed with an adjustment or two, but I don't worry about it because it rarely gets that cold here.

I have triggers on my tonneau and hood and interior motion sensor. I use the aux output to control my power tonneau for open and close. The 2-way pager works great and has a very good range. I have never had a false alarm with this system. It has a lifetime warranty (on everything but the remote). I don't think you can wrong with any DEI product.

The Python I have is the same as the Viper. Just a different brand name, all made by DEI. I don't know if that has changed since I bought mine or not. I have been well pleased with mine.

I personally have the Code SRT9000. It is a 2 way pager system complete with remote start. Travis at kcautosound.com is a great guy to talk to about this. If you order through him he will pre-wire the alarm for you and send you very thorough instructions on how to install the alarm yourself. It took me about 2 hours to install it including remote start. The alarm itself is the best I have used to date. Hell if you want to you can even program your truck to remote start itself and shut itself back off in the middle of the night if you live in the nice cold northern environments like I do. And I got all of it for about $400, it is a much better system then the vipers, much more reliable and the remote will actually reach out a mile on the SRT9000. At least look at them I was a strictly viper guy up until I purchased this now I will not own anything but Code Alarm.

hmm maybe i'm crazy but i swear i read on here a couple people had alarms that cost them $1200 and i was like why?
maybe it was a figment of my imagination though

anywho i have a Marksman alarm/remote start that cost me about $300, bought the truck on a friday, had the alarm installed on monday, even if i never put anything fancy in there i still dont want to take any chances.

might not be the best alarm system out there but it works really well, if ya tap the window or pull the handle too hard while it's armed, it'll sound
