So ill change my opinion for you since you appreciate it so much. Go spend the $1,648.95 or better yet since you shouldn't NEED anything, but still want to spend all your money you say you don't have... go buy a diesel . *****
no need to get pissy. There was no need to point out the obvious if u would have read my first post no where did i ask what i NEED. my truck does handle fine with the trailer, i simply asked what mods would help me cause i wanna make the towing easier, and not ruin my trany. there is a lot of mods out there and people all want their truck to do different things, it gets overwhelming so i simply asked for help. after all i thought thats why we're here, to help each other out. obviously im not just gonna go out and spend $1648.95 in one shot. it will prob take me a couple of years, that would be why i asked wich ones would be recomended first.

also how is this being a *****...
Yes i know i shouldnt NEED anything, but im looking to make it easier, and i also know towing is a bitch on transmissions. im just looking to extend the life of my truck and not blow it up before its paid off. i also know that spending the $1648.95 isnt much more than i new transmission. I appreciate your opinion though maybe next time you dont have to be a ***** about givin it.
????

im pretty sure i didnt even call you a *****, just stated the way you gave your opinion you where being a *****. hell i dont even know you, you could be a nice guy who just talks like a *****. or maybe just to people who arent as smart as you.
So really no need for you to be callin me a *****.(well maybe after this post you have reason)
so sorry for the confusion next time i just wont ask such a dumbe question. wich puts me in quite the predicament cause i had another dumb question about axle codes.

im not being pissy. "maybe next time you dont have to be a ***** about givin it" is stating that im being a *****; therefore im a *****. When somebody says something to you that you don't like you defend yourself, as i did and you did in return. Simple human nature. I called you a ***** cause you called me a *****. No hard feelings.

Theatrics aside, i recommend getting a chip as it'll probably be your biggest benefit when you're not towing, but the guy above said get an intake first and im positive he knows more than i do.

oh yeah and "you could be a nice guy who just talks like a *****" right back at ya

thanks for the help everyone including you mark03screw

all this will atleast get me started in the right direction

but the problem with getting a intake before a tuner is that ive read all over this forum about how intakes make you run lean wich 04s have a problem with already and that the only intake to not make it dangerously lean is the 3" AF1. Now i dont want anyone to take this the wrong way but i notice the same responses from the same people kinda makes them seem like they're just product pushers. Wich might not be the case at all.

ParkM you said get an intake first... is there any brand in paticular(pretty sure that spelled wrong) that you recomend, or should i go with the 3" AF1 cause it wont make me run lean?

I'm pretty sure there's others that won't make you run lean, keep digging. but since some 04s ran lean right out of the plant i'd say grab a tuner first then get it custom tuned once you start doing more mods. customizable tuners that I know of are the gryphon (only tuned by PHP that I know of) the sct lines of xcal 2 or 3 (tuned by Troyer performance, VMP tuning, and many others) or the livewire (tuned by Troyer and I would imagine anyone else who does SCT stuff) do some research in the tuners forum and choose what you think is best for you based on wait times and preference for in cab displays (gryphon and livewire have it). I will say I've heard that the livewire has had some issues, not sure if they're fixed yet. good luck

You can always get the 3.5" AF1, keep it in the box and then when you get your tunes install them all at once. Or just run with the 3", you'll be leaving some potential power on the table, but you won't have to worry about any codes.

anyone know off the top of their head the power gain differences between the 3 and 3.5" AF1?
AF1 website doesnt really talk much about the 3".
