Mudder or Mattbert ?'s on light's
Ok guy's hang with me on this.I need your opinion's & advice.
I putting a smittybuilt s/s outland sport bar on my Black Supercrew. My question's concern light's so I thought I would ask the expert's.
Mudder:
I was possibly thinking of KC's. #238's 6" black 100w or #239's 6"stainless 100w. I've read about rust problem's on the board's.I live in Wisconsin.(need I say more).
Mattbert:
My other option was going with PIAA 520 driving version Except I 'm not looking for the yellowish type of light, just white Halogen type. Then I read on the thier website that they make A 520 MSR driving light.I don't know what the difference is .
Can you shed some light on this for me.
I would go with the black finish on the piaa's.
I know both light's have different uses & beam type's the KC's are cheaper which I like but I heard the wiring harness is better ion the piaa's.I would like to stay in the 80-100 watt range & I'm only going to put 1 set of light's on the truck.I know both company's make a good product.I do like the protective type grid on the piaa's do they make them for kc's?
Thank's for your help guy's
Happy trail's

Fall, the PIAA 520 MSR's aren't due out until the end of this month. Right now I've got a total of 6 520's on my F-150 and I've been told once the 520 MSR's are available I'll be used as a "test subjectr", installing the MSR lenses and reflectors in my existing housings to see what type of difference there is, what produces the most light, etc. I can't wait.
Basically, the yellow "amber" lens uses a standard reflector, but has a difference in lenses which differentiates between fog or driving. With the 520 MSR's it will use a clear which uses the same lens, but the reflector behind the lens will basically determine whether it is a fog light or a driving light. I'm told it's supposed to be a much clearer, whiter light and supposed to be much brighter then many lights of higher wattage from competitors because of the layout of the reflectors. I'll be able to let you know hopefully within a few weeks though

The 100 watt KC's are good and bright, but they are a halogen bulb. I have the 165 watters which are the sealed beam. Mine don't have any rust on them, mainly cause I take really good care of them all the time, and clean them. I would go with the black ones. Of the six I have on top two of them are stainless, and I wish I had gotten chrome cause the finish isn't so good like the chrome. I have had the chrom for about 2 years now, and they really look good.
