Post Couple Misc. Reccomendations wanted.

I'm trying to figure out what Items I want to put on my truck, and am generally pricing them out right now. I was wondering if there was anything special about the following things I should be looking for, or any brands I should be looking for.

1. A bug deflector
2. Rhino Spray in bedliner
3. K&N Filter assembly.( the 4wheel shop reccomended a throttlebody spacer, what is this and is it needed?)
4. Dual Gibson Exhaust
5. Hidden Hitch
6. PiAA Airdam (520 Ion Crystal Fog black on Outboards, and 510 Superwhite pencils Inboard)
7. Lear 600 Tonneau Cover.
8. Alarm (with battery backup because my airbags were already stolen once and they disabled the positive lead on the battery as the first thing they did)

I have a 2001 White F-150 Supercab, Flareside, 4.6L v8. Any suggestions or changes would be highly appreciated. I'm going to make my truck look a little sporty, and get good gas mileage. Also on the lights when is an appropriate time to use the outboards and inboards?

Thanks a bunch,

Chris

I would recoomend the following...
1. A bug deflector
Lund X-terminator
2. Rhino Spray in bedliner
Only if you're sure...no going back
3. K&N Filter assembly.( the 4wheel shop reccomended a throttlebody spacer, what is this and is it needed?)
The FIPK from either K&N or AirAid. the spacer isn't really worth the money according to the other posts I've read here.
4. Dual Gibson Exhaust
Super Truck or Side Swept (I am getting Flowmaster
5. Hidden Hitch
Do you plan on getting a roll pan or something? Otherwise, let it show!!
6. PiAA Airdam (520 Ion Crystal Fog black on Outboards, and 510 Superwhite pencils Inboard)
Sounds good, talk to Mattbert for good pricing
7. Lear 600 Tonneau Cover.
Check out the SlimTop, or ARE first. May even want to look into Pro Sport Group Purchase in the Group Purchase Forum
8. Alarm (with battery backup because my airbags were already stolen once and they disabled the positive lead on the battery as the first thing they did)
Viper ESP alarms are good

Have you created a signature yet? They come in handy, just don't make it too long...gets a little annoying in multiple posts. Here's mine..

I see you live in the Dallas area, if you decide to go with a Rhino, have it done by John at Rhino Linings of North Dallas. They are in Addison, on Lindberg. John has sprayed two trucks I've owned in the past and he will do my next one as well, he does very good work.

Since a bug deflecter was mentioned above......
Friend at work today told me my truck did'nt look good with the bug deflector. It's one of those dark colored plastic ones and my truck is white. I somewhat agree with her. Are they made of clear plastic?

Zach, Question: if you have a rhino and live in Dallas, during the summer do you have a problem with your liner getting a little soft in the Texas Summers? I've heard from a good friend that they tend to, and they reccomended the TOFF liner because it's a little harder than the Rhino one.

I run a business here in which 95% of my customers drive trucks, either pickups or SUV's. I see a lot of liners when customers come in to pick up orders and as of yet have not seen a bad Rhino or Line-X. I've seen some very shoddy installations of other brands of liners. To be fair I have not seen too many of the TOFF liners come through my shop. My personal experience with the Rhino has been outstanding, no cracking in our brutal Texas summers. FOR ME, another reason to get the Rhino is that they can color match the liner to the dark grey bed rail covers on our trucks which looks great. The competition among sprayed on liner companies in our area is fierce, if what you heard came from a TOFF dealer I would take it with a grain of salt.

FourHour- Yes, you can get clear bug deflectors. What I would recommend is getting a clear on, and then having the back painted to match your truck. This way, the paint will be protected from any rock chips, but will still show through. I believe that Lund even sells them already factory matched, but I'm not sure.

instead of a bug deflector, why dont you get a truck bra...those will also protect more than the bug deflector.

Bras can be a pain to deal with. There is a lot of preventative measures to take so that the paint beneath the bra does not get wrecked. The best choice for front end protection (at least in my book) is a clear 3M type bra. The only down side to these are they don't protect the windshield like a deflector *can*.

Skicrave, Thanks alot. Painting has been an option I've been looking towards lately. I'm considering purchasing the visors and louvres for the windows as well as front and back light covers. Most likely will get all at the same time and have them painted white. I also like the idea of purchasing clear and painting the inside. Again thanks, Dennis
