Thumbs up Pullies Installed!

Got the ASP underdrive pullies installed yesterday. This was the two pully set. Spent a full hour looking under the hood trying to decide if I wanted to do it or not, or have a mechanic do it. Decided to go for it, and it turned out to be not too hard of a job but did take several hours. I did learn that for me, the fastest way to install them was to make as much room as possible in front of the engine, which meant taking some things out such as the fan shroud, the upper radiator hose (so that the shroud can come out easy), and the air filter (so that the shroud can pass). through). One problem though. The bolt that holds the harmonic balancer in place is crap. The head of the bolt is too short to get 75ft-lbs of torque on it. I ended up stripping the bolt head at about 70ft-lbs. Hop I don't have to get down there again.

I use The Steeda pulleys, (3 piece), which uses the Mustang belt, (6 rib vs 8). Didn't notice any difference, but they're staying on...Mark...aka doorslammer69,,,aka sundayniagara@hotmail.com

GoDogGo,

You are suppose to reuse your existing bolt, not the bolt that came with the pullies.

Tweaker,
With the two pully set (balancer and waterpunp), the original belt can be used - no need to get a new one. I don't know about the three pully set though.

BigRed2,
I did use the existing bolt, although I wish now I had used the supplied starter bolt, as it looked to be made out of hardened steel (would have had to trim about a half inch off though since it was longer).

JMTruck,
I got the pullies several months back from TruckPerformance.Com for $189 to the door. At the time they were $10 dollars less than ASP and I believe F150 online as well. I notice that F150 online now offers them for $189 as well.

Thanks GDG for the info. Don't forget to come back with some long term feedback on those pullies.

GoDogGO,

How are those pullies?
I am considering ordering some right now,
but want to hear some feedback.
Did you notice a bit less power for your accessories when idling?
Even better, did you notice any HP increase?

Let us know brother, we need to know from experience.
Are they worth the 169$ from rmpoutlet?'
Thanks,
