I love my KC slimlites. They are very bright and cheap compared to others.

I got them for 150 at Mikesoffroad.com

I have two KC 6x9, 100watt long range lights on my push bar and they are definitely a lot brighter (but more of a focused long range beam obviously) then the regular hi/lo lights. Work wonders at night depending on how you aim them (I have mine pointing slightly outwards).
Also work great when somebody in front of you is driving like a moron .

And yes, off road lights are EXCELLENT for bad drivers, or slow people in the Left Lane... All lights on = cleared out left lane...
