Question Speedo Swap

I have a 98' F-150 ext. cab with a 4.6. I wanted to know if it was possible to swap a 99' to 03' F-150 gauge cluster to my truck. Or even a Lighting gauge clustler. I know the main difference is that the newer clusters have digital mileage read outs and the 97'-98' clusters have analog. Has anyone done this swap before and can it be done? Thanks

You think maybe you would have to get the computer and gauge cluster from a 99 and up F-150 just so it would work? I think the lay out just looks better than what we have in our 98' trucks.

Cool

HI!... I installed a "99" LIGHTNING gauge cluster in my "99" F-150. Bolted right in but had to be pregrammed at the dealer for the GEM module and the PATS system due to the PATS system works through the cluster. I was told any gauge cluster with the digital odometer WILL NOT work in any of the F-150's that came with a analog odometer cluster.

Damn. I was afraid you were going to say that. Well I guess I will have to go the glow gauge face route with a bezel. That should sub. the look I was going for. I'm not going to know how fast over a 100mph I'm going after I put in my Lighting motor. Damn. Oh well.

HI!... Thats the reason I went with the swap, was to get a 220KPH speedo. Now I wish someone made one that went higher due to my truck hits 205-210 KPH in 3rd gear! LOL! So pegging 220 in O/D is not a problem.

Damn Neal! Sounds like you got a beast on your hands. I shouldn't be going over a 100mph all the time , I would just like to know when I did, how much. Theres got to be a way to do it. I will have to brainstorm somemore. So are the clusters total different in the rear? I know you said you swapped your 99' for a 99', but have you ever seen the rear of one with an analog mileage clock?
