I did a google and found this:
Electric Tailgate lock

You WILL have to do some bit of wiring and to make sure that it does not crimp opening and closing the tailgate.

I wonder if you can feed in drains or if you woudl have to drill for wiring.

I have one installed on both of my F150 trucks. It is great as the tailgate locks and unlocks with the rest of the doors.

As for wiring, there are no issues other than getting it hooked up, definately no drilling holes required. Go to your local truck accessory store and they should have them in stock, and should take them 1 hour tops to install it.

Here is a link to the one i have!

I installed a Pace Edwards electric lock, and wired it to the PASSENGER door...that way the open/close cycles are way reduced (instead of every time you open the drivers door).

I ran it out the left drain hole in the tailgate, then up the left frame rail to a funnel-shaped grommet that enters the cabin by the front left driver's seat. Pull up the driver's rocker panel trim (just pops right off) and peel back a bit of carpet to expose the other side of the grommet. Then run up the left kick panel and across the underside of the dash to the fuse panel area. Pull off the trim around the r/h kick panel and you'll see a wire bundle running from the passenger door. Look for these 2 wires: Pink w/ Orange Stripe = Unlock , Pink w/ Black stripe = Lock. Hook the tailgate actuator up and test it to make sure the actuators both lock and unlock at the same time.

Piece of cake!! Check my gallery link under signature.

Sounds easy nuff. I may try it to hook up to the 'trunk' output of my remote.
I wonder if I can get it to sense if someone pulls on the tailgate latch and trigger the alarm for trunk entry. That may be a good way to keep the tailgate if they punch the lock.

you can take any lock actuator out of any ol' car from a junk yard (5-10 bucks) and wire it up, and fab up a quick bracket and your good to go

And you to get the "trunk" feature to work you would need to reprogram the BCM i believe. And as far as sensitivity of your alarm, you could add another "channel" to your alarm and put it in the tailgate or under the bed...

Got an aftermarket CA-670 with the trunk release wrapped up wth nothing to do anyway. I could probably rig up a mercury switch in the tailgate for opening sensing as well.

Gotta make my underseat box first. uugh... projects projects projects

Autoloc makes a kit that fits inside the tailgate handle, but it's not an exact fit and directions are a tad unclear (e.g. said to install actuator to left, but needed to be installed to right).

I then ran the two wires through the tailgate out a drainage hole and under the truck. Since I had an A.R.E. tonneau that was already hooked up for lock/unlock, I just ran the wires to the tonneau wiring under the rear bumper. Now, I unlock the doors, tonneau and tailgate both unlock.

As for the lock sensor, I have a CompuStar aftermarket alarm, so hitting the lock/unlock button will do the doors, tonneau and tailgate at the same time. I also installed one mercury switch inside the tailgate on the handle, a second mercury switch on the tonneau cover, and ran this to the trunk detector on the alarm module. If either the tonneau or tailgate are opened when the alarm is armed, the 2-way remote tells me the trunk was opened.

The problem with the trunk button on a standard fob is that your alarm (factory or aftermarket) will just recognize it as a pop... won't know lock vs unlock, so the idea of connecting it up to the passenger door wires for lock/unlock is the way to go if using a factory fob.
