Question Soft Tonneau Covers (hinged)

I am considering a soft tonneau cover with a hinge. I like the idea of being able to lift the cover as a whole unit to access the bed. Has anyone had any experience with this type of lid? Do they seal well? Do they rattle?

Thumbs up

I have a soft hinged cover on my 1998 f150 SC. It is made by Checker products. It works great and looks even better. You can find a checker ad in Truckin magazine or any other sport truck mag. They ship factory direct and the cover with all the hardware will only cost you $175 to your front door. It seals well and keeps out , I would say 99% of any weather condition. Taxman

Taxman, is yours hinged at the end, like a fiberglass cover? I have seen some soft tops that are hinged in the middle, or maybe even in three pieces. I don't like the idea of a one piece top. It defeats the purpose of having vinyl in the first place. I would love a Retrax but the cost is out of sight. I don't like the hump back look of most soft, roll up tonneaus. Guess I am too picky.

Yes it is hinged like the fiberglass lids and lifts up with shocks. But it does not have that hump look that your talking about. The fit is flush with the bed, you can hardly see it if your looking at the truck from the side. Checker makes some really sweet covers, I think you should check them out. Taxman

Cool

Taxman,
Thanks for the info. That's a great price on the Checker brand tonneau. I think I'll order one.

Taxman,
I'm sure others as well as I appreciate your review and comments on the soft tonneau cover. After all thats why we come here, but I think you need to contact the webmaster about buying add space on this site. I certainly dont read the posts to be bombarded with advertizing. Nothing personal but if I want to find out how to "save thousand $$$$..." on my taxes I'll go search "tax prep" sites not posts to a "Ford truck enthusiast" site. Like I said its nothing "personal" just whats "appropriate". -wayne

Ok Wayne, I feel your pain. I edited my message to surf150. I agree with you that there is a proper place and time for everything. By the way, did you forget to suggest a solution for surf150's question? Nothing personal, but maybe you shouldn't get involved in a topic if your not going to try and help out the person who started the topic. Now that would be,"Appropriate."
