Old Remote Starter

I've got a remote start installed on my old explorer. I wanted to take it off of the explorer and put it on my FX4. The car shop wants $240 to remove / install the thing.

My question is has anyone installed one of the "higher end" remote starters on their truck? They also have a new one that they will install for $300. I would rather use my old one. Any pointers?

Does it have any bells and whistles like auto shut off (with no key or tring to open the hood)? Do you still have to use your factory keyless entry?

I was thinking about doing an Ultra Start 2700XR myself. That is, till I found out all the quirks in reference to the PASS-LOCK security issues pertaining to these newer Ford trucks and the extra parts needed. Something else to keep in mind, you're going to have to give up your second key or have another one made, here again, PASS-LOCK security issues. There is simply no by-pass/work around according to the tech. So I bit the bullet and had it installed, with a 2 year warranty. This is my second Ultra Start and the first one I never so much as replaced the battery in the FOB. Save yourself the headaches and get it done by the pro's. If you don't like the way the features are set, take it back and have them change it to your liking. No fuss no muss.

Or if you're really good at wiring and wanna kill a whole afternoon and save a whole 50 bucs, go the eBay route--good luck.
